Seniors

3rds Game against Titchley CC was called off due to weather.

2nds were away to Palace CC 1s and skipper James elected to bat. With a top half collapse the 2s were 13 for 5 after 6 overs. The hero of the day Jay N. steadied the ship and built a few partnerships with the tail and ended the innings with a quality 117*. Banging on the door for a 1s callup with his 2nd hundred in 3 games. The 2nds ended the innings 210 for 9 from 50 overs.

Palace 1s came out strong setting the tone with 70 coming of the first 10 overs and the openers struggling to find rhythm. Charlie M came on 1st change and took the game by the scruff of the neck and took 3 wickets in his first over and finished with figures of 3 for 14 from 10 with 6 maidens. Again though it was Jay N. continuing with the ball where he left off with the bat taking regular scalps with his left arm off spin. He ended with figures of 4 for 26 from 10 as the 2s bowled Palace out for 189 to secure 4th spot and ensure they’re still in a promotion push.

1sts were at home to Wanderers CC in a top of the table battle. Wanderers won the toss and chose to bat. Jack J opened up with the new pill with the skipper Andrew M. The 2 kept a solid enough start with Wanderers on 65 for 2 after 12. The Wanderers no.4 however was proving extremely tough to get out, posting 134 before nicking a wide one to Harry J. behind the stumps off Liam M. An entertaining last 8 overs which saw 65 runs and 6 wickets. Liam M. and and Tom W. took 3 each but Wanderers found regular boundaries seeing them post a big 301 for 9 after 50.

The Jacks needed a strong innings from a few of the top 6 but it was a nervous start with our openers John M. and Ryan R. both go for 0. We steadied the ship for a few overs with the skipper hitting a few bombs before going after one too many and getting caught in the deep. But the day belonged to partnership of Liam M. and Jack J. who together put up 204 runs before Jack got caught and bowled 23 short of his century (77). Liam carried his bat to the end and the South African overseas brought the win home with a mammoth 164* to go with his 3 wickets. The Jacks now 29 points at the top of the table with a game in hand trying to secure their first Premier league trophy.
